Helping you help community cats in West Philadelphia

Founded in 2007, Project MEOW is an all-volunteer, non-profit* animal welfare group that provides services to people caring for stray and feral cats in West Philadelphia. Our mission is to humanely reduce the futurepopulation of cats living on the streets, while supporting the need now for cats to live safely outdoors in our neighborhoods.

We believe we are most effective doing this as a community-based organization, so we focus our work in zip codes 19104, 19139, and 19143. Most of our members live or work in West Philly.

We focus on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). TNR is a humane and non-lethal approach to community cat population control –a comprehensive management plan where healthy free-roaming cats are sterilized and vaccinated, then returned to their habitat and provided with long-term care by at least one community member. (For more information about TNR, please visit our TNR page.)

We help about 900-1100 cats per year and have about 200 feral and stray cat caregivers in our database. We’re completely funded by donations. We have no staff or physical building.

Since many of the cats found in the neighborhoods we assist are friendly and could be adopted, we also partner with rescue organizations to help find adoptable cats good homes.
