Washington Women's Chorus

  • Acerca de

The Washington Women’s Chorus was founded in 1996 by its artistic director, Donald P. Richardson, creating the only community women’s chorus in the metro area, now numbering over 40 singers. Over the past 12 years, WWC has explored a range of musical genres and performance styles, from 11th-century works to jazz to modern commissioned works, in more than 10 foreign languages. Consistent throughout its lifetime, WWC has challenged itself to reach new audiences and expand appreciation of music for women’s voices, including commissioning original works, such as Hannah’s Song by Katherine Dienes, to further expand the repertoire for women’s voices.
