Together Restoring Economic Empowerment
Misión
Acerca de
TREE is a millennial of color-led civil rights-minded organization dedicated to helping bridge the rift between members of the millennial generation and activism. TREE works to develop substantive plans of action, particularly in communities of color. The action plans and on the ground programming foster more conversation and tangible next steps for young people of color to act on injustice in the economic, entertainment and environmental sphere. TREE utilizes the collective environment of social media platforms to share and expose stories, and to allow people to engage with the organization as well as on the ground programming to delve deeply into training and community empowerment for people of color. TREE focuses on those three main areas: economic justice, environmental justice, and the nexus between entertainment and race, always leading with a racial justice lens. And often times TREE includes an anti-racist perspective. These areas represent parts of TREE leadership’s daily lives that impact the leadership team in great ways, whether it is the pay gap or minimum wage, the lack of green spaces and complete streets, or negative representations of people of color, Being intersectional and deliberate about racial justice, people of color led advocacy, and framing are key components of our mission and values statement. In sum, TREE wants to change the way young people of color live and are perceived.
