Mission

The mission of Osteo Science Foundation is to advance hard and soft tissue regeneration with a focus on Oral and CranioMaxillofacial Surgery in the United States and Canada. Our aim is to promote high quality basic and clinical research as well as education that leads to improved outcomes for patients.

Our Work

Osteo Science Foundation is as an independent, privately funded 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization funded by Geistlich Biomaterials. Our work is deeply rooted in our passion to unveil the true potential of regenerative medicine within Oral and CranioMaxillofacial Surgery, and to continuously improve patient care. We are driven each and every day to make an impact – by investing in strategic research, by supporting the next generation of scientists, by illuminating the way forward in our field through education, innovation, and scientific partnership.

Our resolve remains steadfast - to shape the future of regenerative medicine and to provide a platform for funded and entirely independent basic and clinical research focused on new therapeutic approaches and clinical treatment methods with regenerative medicine in dentistry. We are poised to continue our work to accelerate scientific progress, and to transform the very future of human health.

To that end, we are proud to offer a variety of scientific research opportunities:

  • Resident Research Awards: Annual awards exclusively for OMFS residents and fellows, offering up to $10,000 per year, with a one or two-year project duration.
  • Philip J. Boyne Junior Faculty Awards: Annual awards exclusively for OMFS surgeons within the first five years of their first faculty appointment, offering up to $25,000 per year, with a one or two-year project duration.
  • Peter Geistlich Research Awards: Research awards offering up to $50,000 per year, with a one or two-year project duration.

Our Impact

To unveil the true potential of regenerative medicine will require the power of forward-thinking research, education, and scientific collaboration. These pillars are at the heart of Osteo Science Foundation.

Since our launch, we have contributed over $2,000,000 to research and education in Oral and CranioMaxillofacial Surgery.* We have hosted and promoted a broad range of educational initiatives to shine a spotlight on the forward-thinking research and scientific collaboration that is underway. We have built a vast network of academic and scientific partners, and we have introduced innovative development programs including our acclaimed Clinical Observership Program.

*As of December, 2018

  • Conferences and Symposia: The Foundation offers a range of relevant, education-centric programs for OMFS clinicians that teach current and innovative trends in tissue regeneration.
  • Clinical Observership Program: This innovative program offers intensive training for residents who are interested in a private practice experience. The opportunity matches residents with senior clinicians for a two to four week assignment, offering intensive, individualized training with leading practitioners in the field.
  • Partnerships: Osteo Science Foundation proudly supports the work of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). Through research, travel awards, and ongoing collaboration, the Foundation invests in clinicians, residents, and faculty alike.
