Hyde Park Green Team

The Hyde Park Green Team is a youth jobs and environmental education program of the Southwest Boston Community Development Corporation since 2009. The Green Team cleans and beautifys Hyde Park’s business district, restores Hyde Park’s Urban Wilds, and care for goats which are employed to remove poison ivy at urban wild sites. Through educational field trips, community outreach, and trainings with area colleges and non-profits, Green Team youth develop job readiness skills such as workplace expectations and proper workplace conduct; landscaping and trail-building experience; youth leadership and civic engagement skills; and knowledge of local ecology. The Team travels between work sites by bicycle, learning about road safety and basic bicycle maintenance.
