OUR WORK

Education

Through our sponsorship program, children from poor communities and families are given an opportunity to access education. The opportunity extended to these children gives them a chance at a better future. This provides a good foundation in the fight against poverty for the next generation.

We understand that having school fees is just one step in ensuring that children are educated. Therefore, we are creating a safe and conducive learning environment by addressing issues of child protection, gender based violence both at school and home. We are able to do this by engaging both the children and the different stakeholders.

Hygiene and Sanitation

Our program works with individuals, schools and communities to improve hygiene and sanitation. Unfortunately, girls and women are more vulnerable in this area. Poor hygiene practices and inadequate sanitation erodes them of their dignity. Center For Tomorrow is working with primary schools in poor communities to address menstrual hygiene management by training school staff in making of reusable pads and also giving out free reusable sanitary pads. The organization is also facilitating hygiene and sanitation trainings in schools to improve quality of life of children in school but also fight preventable diseases.

Food and Nutrition

Malnutrition is a significant global health issue, with undernutrition alone being the underlying cause in almost half of all deaths in children under 5. While some children may not be malnourished, due to the povety background, they lack nuntritious food while at school. Thie hinders their school performance because its hard to learn on an empty stomach.

Skills Development

This program equips women, girls and youths with skills that can be used to create income generating activities. These different groups of people are equipped with technical skills that are coupled with financial, savings and entrepreneurship skills. Center For Tomorrow is offering a number of trainings as listed; making of African sandals, liquid soap, shaggy mats and carpets, reusable sanitary pads, candles and home decor. The products made are also sold competitively on the open market for sustainability.

Reading Culture

Making reading a part of everyday life in schools and homes helps and nurtures children into being lifelong readers. A child who is able to do individual reading and read for pleasure is more likely to perform better in school. We work with the schools to allocate time on the time table for reading. The time allocated is used for three things; (i) stimulating the children’s brains through board games, crossword puzzles and word search. (ii)After the brains are stimulated, the kids go into a reading session where each child does individual reading.(iii) And finally, each child is given a paper and pen to review the book they have just read.

Career Guidance and Counselling

Center For Tomorrow guides students in making and implementing informed educational and occupational choices. This enables them to make career choices depending on their personality traits, areas of interest and the job market.
