The mission of WONCA is to promote general practice and family medicine to improve the quality of life and health of the peoples of the world.
WONCA – the World Organization of Family Doctors – is a global nonprofit committed to improving the quality of life and health of people everywhere through high standards in family medicine and primary health care.
We represent 134 member organizations in 115 countries and territories, uniting over half a million family doctors and the broader primary care workforce. Our work is rooted in a strong belief in health equity, universal health coverage, and the essential role of primary care in resilient health systems.
We serve family physicians, health professionals, educators, researchers, and policy advocates by offering a platform for knowledge exchange, professional development, advocacy, and global collaboration. Through official relations with the World Health Organization and other international bodies, we help the development of policies that place people at the center of health care.
Our community is diverse and united by shared values: patient-centered care, continuity, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to excellence in primary care for all.
