MusiCorps

MusiCorps helps wounded warriors play music and recover their lives. Praised by the Wall Street Journal as “revolutionary,” MusiCorps provides conservatory-level music training to wounded warriors as a core part of their rehabilitation. Operating at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, MusiCorps employs professional musicians who help participants learn or relearn how to play an instrument as well as write, record, and perform. 

During long and difficult recoveries, MusiCorps brings activity, accomplishment, and joy. In the words of Sgt Levi Crawford, injured by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, “MusiCorps isn’t just helping a soldier learn to play music, but also helping him get back to normal life.”

The MusiCorps Wounded Warrior Band, the performance component of MusiCorps, has performed with Yo-Yo Ma, Roger Waters, Sheryl Crow, the Kansas City Symphony, Aaron Neville, Ricky Skaggs, and Oleta Adams, on the Colbert Report, PBS, and at the Kennedy Center, Madison Square Garden, the Beacon Theater, and the Grand Ole Opry.
