Habitat for Humanity York County

Habitat for Humanity York County is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Currently, more than 1,400 local affiliates in the United States and more than 70 national organizations around the world have helped more than 1 MILLION families — representing 4.6 million people improve their living conditions since Habitat's founding in 1976.

Habitat and local communities build, rehabilitate and repair homes for those who cannot access conventional home loans. Habitat affiliates build houses, while Habitat for Humanity International provides a wide range of support services and resources. 

Habitat for Humanity York County was founded in 1985 by Miles Freeman and a small group of dedicated individuals. Since that time, Habitat and the greater York County community have completed 25 homes in York County for hard-working people in need of decent, affordable housing. Our homes are well-built, energy efficient, easy to maintain and enhance the neighborhoods in which we build.

Our mission is to work towards the elimination of poverty housing and homelessness in York County and to stir the hearts and minds of others to take action on this issue.

In June 2013, Habitat opened a ReStore to support our mission. We joined the community weatherization partnership, Keep York County Warm! to assist families in need of energy assistance. Habitat assumed managerial and financial responsibility for this program in 2014.
