Public Square Partnership

Education in the state of Connecticut is at a critical juncture: Connecticut has the largest achievement gap of all fifty states, yet recent policy changes create opportunity to dramatically alter the quality of education in our schools. Connecticut is poised to become a destination state for education sector investment, innovation, and talent, and it is vital that new capacity is built inside and outside the public education system in order to actualize these policy changes and to ensure that schools are set up for real, sustainable transformation. Public Square Partnership, a start-up philanthropic fund for education, was created to accelerate the pace of this educational change in the state and to ensure that Connecticut’s public education system be dramatically improved to produce tangible results for children.

Our Goals

• Increase the number of students attending high-quality schools
• Fund talent pipelines, effective school operators, education service providers and community based organizations, creating a robust education ecosystem
• Use this ecosystem to maximize the collective impact and momentum our partner organizations and districts can achieve to accelerate our pace of improvement

Public Square Partnership focuses its investments on innovative change efforts that have attained tangible results for children attending schools in high-need communities or that have the potential to do so for sustainable and scalable impact. We are a small yet mighty team based in Bridgeport, Connecticut as of the spring of 2014.
