Acerca de
The Committee was formed at the request of the Carlisle School Advisory Council, and the funds are managed by the Carlisle PTO.
After speaking to several design companies and neighboring towns, we decided that the best way forward was not to fix the Castle apiece here and there, but to create a brand new structure. One that is safe, accessible and enjoyed by all generations of Carlisle and surrounding communities - for years to come.
Since it was built in 1988, the Castle Playground has been such an integral part of every child’s experience at the school. Visitors to the town are blown away by what our children get to have as their playground. Residents know how special it is.
Thirty-three years later, the Castle is showing its age. Many parts have been replaced or removed for safety reasons. The nails that have held the structure together for over 30 winters are starting to loosen, and the kids are coming back from recess with splinters and cuts. The decades have also revealed disadvantages of the original plan. If a child, parent, or faculty member cannot navigate the narrow boards, almost all of the Castle is off limits. Because of safety issues, our KG and Pre-K classes aren't allowed to play on the structure during the school day; they have to play in the smaller, unshaded, metal structure. It is time for a change.
