Project Genesis, Inc.

About the Organization

Project Genesis, Inc. was incorporated in September, 1991, as a non-profit agency. Services were intended to be community-based, highly individualized and person-centered. We initially provided services to adults with disabilities through the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services in a vocational capacity. In 1992 Project Genesis began providing special education transition services to Ellington Public Schools. Since that time our Special Education Support Services program has expanded to work with over thirty-five area school districts. In 1999 we began providing extensive services to adults with acquired brain injuries under the Medicaid Waiver Program. This program permits people to live full lives in the community instead of existing in institutions and presently serves about 60 people.

Today Project Genesis has nearly 200 employees, each of whom is dedicated to our mission. Programs have expanded beyond our initial service area of northeastern Connecticut into the central and southeastern parts of the state to provide services to over 250 individuals per year. Our programs are designed to promote the highest level of consumer participation in the development of their services. We look forward to a future filled with expanded and enhanced opportunities for our consumers and our employees.

Project Genesis, Inc. believes that all persons, regardless of their disability, have the right to enjoy the same full range of life experiences which others in their community enjoy. We believe that each person who desires to live and work in their community can be successful.

Project Genesis is dedicated to providing individualized supports and training which empower people with disabilities to successfully meet their needs, achieve their desires and enjoy the full range of life experiences within their communities.
