Northland Therapeutic Riding Center

  • Misión

Northland Therapeutic Riding Center (NTRC) improves the quality of life for people with disabilities through equine-assisted services. Together with our dedicated volunteers, we foster independence, confidence, and meaningful connections—empowering people of all abilities to grow, thrive, and connect through the power of horses.

    Acerca de

Founded in 2000, Northland Therapeutic Riding Center (NTRC) is a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center located just 23 miles north of Kansas City, Missouri. On our 32-acre farm—complete with indoor and outdoor arenas, pastures, and open spaces—participants discover the healing and empowering bond between people and horses.

NTRC offers two program formats: mounted therapeutic riding lessons led by Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors, and unmounted one-on-one sessions with Equine Specialists in Mental Health and Learning. These equine-assisted services support children and adults with a wide range of disabilities and challenges, helping to improve strength, balance, coordination, focus, and social-emotional skills.

At the heart of it all are our volunteers, who walk beside riders, lead horses, or work behind the scenes to create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment. Together, they contribute an average of 900 hours each month, making independence, confidence, and joy possible for every participant—while reminding us that learning and growth can be fun for everyone.
