Equine Specialist in Mental Health & Learning Volunteer
Descripción
Descripción
Northland Therapeutic Riding Center's unmounted ESMHL program uses the unique connection between humans and horses to support participants as they work toward individualized mental health, learning, social, and personal goals.
As an ESMHL volunteer, you'll work alongside participants, horses, and our ESMHL professional to create a safe, supportive environment where participants can explore skills, build confidence, practice communication, and experience success.
Volunteers may assist with horse handling, activities, and exercises designed around each participant's goals. You don't need to be a mental health professional or an experienced horseperson—we provide training and support and will meet you where you are!
This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in horses, human development, education, mental health, social connection, or simply making a meaningful difference in someone's life.
Volunteers can participate on a weekly or every-other-week basis, with opportunities scheduled around NTRC's program needs and volunteer availability.
No horse experience? No problem. We will teach you!

¿Cómo llegar?
We have a shared drive way continue down the road until you pass through a red gate with a one way sign pointing up and to the left. Follow it around where it turns to gravel again and go down to the right and right again to park anywhere in front of the red building. Our driveway isn't big enough for two vehicles to pass one another without going into the grass so this allows better traffic flow :)
Cómo participar como voluntario(a) en esta oportunidad
No horse experience is needed! We will meet you where you are, provide training and support, and help you find the areas you enjoy most. Volunteers work alongside participants, horses, and our ESMHL professional to support activities and individualized goals. You may also have opportunities to explore other areas of NTRC, including adaptive riding lessons, horse care, property management, and more.Ready to get started? Complete our Wranglr volunteer application or reach out to us at volunteer@northlandtherapeuticriding.org. From there, we'll help you get connected with an upcoming orientation.
All new volunteers complete an orientation before volunteering with NTRC. Volunteers 18 and older will also complete a background check. After orientation, we'll work with you to find a day and time that fits your schedule. We can't wait to meet you! 🐴
