Acerca de

Smart Beginnings Reading Hour is an early childhood literacy program in which adult volunteers read one-on-one to pre-kindergarten children for 30 minutes once per week. . Studies show that children who are read to regularly have a larger vocabulary—a strong predictor of language skill and reading comprehension at ages 9-10. Additionally, children who are read to regularly have better phonological, letter-name and sound awareness, and better success at decoding words. Reading hour supports families and childcare centers by providing children with enhanced exposure to books and reading, helping to prepare them for kindergarten and later academic success.
