VERKEYA SPEAKS INCORPORATED
Misión
Our mission is to strengthen communities by creating opportunities to start conversations that promote, healing, learning, and empowerment. The organization seeks to do this through workshops, support groups, panel discussions, and video interviews with an acute focus on women of color in the city of New York.
We further endeavor to uplift the next generation of young women of color through scholarships.
Acerca de
Verkeya Speaks Inc. has been incorporated since 2021.
In that time, we have given away $4,000 in scholarships to four young women of color from NYC. We have had our spring journal giveaway impacting our preteen population.
Through social media outlets we have had virtual presentations.
We have had a Mother’s Day Weekend Paint & Sip facilitated by FrankLeigh Art as well as our yearly program Light the Lights where we remember our Baby Angels.
In June of 2022, we successfully held our 1st big fundraiser, An Evening With the Stars.
In the fall we endeavor to bring back our Young Women’s Empowerment workshop series, funded by donor L. Andujar and a grant from Citizens NYC.
