BIRTHRIGHT OF NEWINGTON-NEW BRITAIN INC

Birthright was founded in Toronto, Canada in 1968 and has over 300 chapters throughout the United States, Canada and Ghana. Each chapter is chartered by Birthright International and adheres to the policy directives of Birthright International. Birthright of Newington-New Britain was founded in 1995. Each Birthright chapter is financially independent of any other.

Birthright's guiding principle: It is the right of every pregnant woman to give birth and the right of every child to be born. Birthright maintains a crisis center where any pregnant girl or woman, who is distressed by her pregnancy, may find help as near as her telephone. By placing a call to the crisis center, she will be aided to mobilize her own resources and those of the community so that she may face the future and plan constructively for herself and her child. All Birthright services are free and confidential and provided by an all-volunteer staff.

Birthright offers free pregnancy testing, friendship counseling, and practical support. It is an ongoing presence of trained friendship counseling volunteers available to pregnant women in crisis.
