The Norman B. Leventhal Map Center at the Boston Public Library is a place of discovery that preserves, researches, exhibits and interprets its collection of 200,000 maps and 5,000 atlases dating from the 15th century to the present. Its mission is to use this collection for the education of all with an emphasis on K to 12 grade students and their teachers. The Leventhal Map Center has a gallery with changing exhibitions, a learning center, research room, and Kids Map Club. The website includes 4,400 digitized maps and 100 lesson plans. Last year 70,000 people visited the gallery, and over 1,500 students and hundreds of teachers participated in educational programs.
