City House Inc

Founded in 1988, by PISD school counselor Nancy Boyd, and educator Kay Goodman, what began as a 6-bed teen shelter has grown into a 48-bed multi-faceted agency that includes a children’s emergency shelter, three transitional living homes, free individual & family counseling services, street outreach, and a Youth Resource & Community Outreach Center.

Serving Collin & Dallas County and the majority of North Texas, the mission of City House is to provide emergency shelter, transitional residential living and street-outreach programs and services to at-risk children, youth and young adults (newborn to 24 years) who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness, with a special focus on supporting the unique experiences of LGBTQ young people.

City House embraces all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and religious affiliations while promoting inclusivity, respect, civility, and kindness. We believe each child, youth and young adult in our care has an important gift and they too, are Here for a Reason. It is only through your sense of community and generosity that we serve these precious at-risk citizens.

Our vision of success is that every child, youth and young adult develops the confidence he or she needs to forward the betterment of their life while coping with personal crisis, uncertainty and circumstances not in their immediate control.
