Since 1954 the Lorton Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad has been a proud cornerstone of the Lorton community. We have been the home for hundreds of unpaid volunteers EMTs and fire fighters who support our 24/7 career staff and operate on our own fire and medical apparatuses. Last year our volunteers responded to over 5,000 calls in Lorton, Fairfax Station, Mason Neck, Gunston, Fort Belvoir, Springfield, and along I-95. These emergencies included fires, car accidents, natural disasters, hazardous materials, medical emergencies, and terrorist attacks, among many others.
As a volunteer you will be afforded the best training available to any emergency responders in the world today, the same training that the Fairfax County career staff and the internationally revered Virginia Task Force 1 receive, free of charge. If you are truly committed to advancing you can become an EMT-B and as well as a volunteer fire fighter in 12 months, and your certification will never lapse thanks to our frequent members only recertification credits and training exercises.
