People Making a Difference through Community Service, Inc. (PMD)

People Making a Difference (PMD) seeks to create a world in which people and businesses are socially aware and engaged in their communities such that they approach volunteerism by learning about problems and needs, becoming familiar with local charities that are working to address them, volunteering reliably, and providing other needed resources to make a difference. Our vision is for everyone to be able to volunteer productively a few times a year so that together we make a real difference throughout the year while learning important context along the way.

People Making a Difference through Community Service (PMD) is a nonprofit organization that promotes responsible volunteerism by involving people in meaningful, hands-on work that meets local needs and by assisting companies in building successful volunteer programs that:

• Produce appreciable results while conserving recipients' limited resources,
• Educate volunteers about broader issues,
• Bring people together to make a difference.

PMD serves charities in Greater Boston by recruiting and organizing volunteers to participate in community projects that would not be possible without PMD resources and experience.

PMD organizes and manages customized, hands-on service projects for corporate partners, conveniently tailoring half-day volunteer experiences to their goals and matching them to real community needs. Volunteerism takes place in a company's conference/lunch room or off-site in the community.

PMD also provides training and pro bono consulting services so that nonprofits can strengthen and expand volunteer engagement.

PMD provides volunteers with a sense of community and shared purpose by connecting them with the project, the recipient organization, and each other.

PMD educates its volunteers on how their combined efforts make a difference to the recipients and their communities.
