American University’s School of Professional & Extended Studies offers lifelong academic and experiential learning, providing students the skills to become active and immediate participants in today's knowledge economy. Program options include internship-based semester-long academic programs for pre-college, undergraduate and graduate-level students, along with online Masters degrees and Certificates in a variety of areas.

Graduate Programs and Online Learning - offers a suite of Masters of Science degrees and Graduate Certificates geared toward mid-career professionals looking to further their expertise and earning potential in their current field, or make a career switch. Degrees and certificates currently offered include: Measurement & Evaluation, Sports Analytics & Management, Healthcare Management, Human Resource Analytics & Management, Instructional Design & Learning Analytics, and Agile Project Management.

Graduate Professional Studies (GPS) - is a one semester program that will introduce you to graduate coursework, while interning or researching in DC. The program is designed for students who have already completed a bachelor's degree and are looking to build the career foundation needed to succeed in today’s job market, strengthen graduate school applications, or start earning graduate credit toward a future degree. 

Test Prep Courses– Preparatory courses to take the GRE, GMAT, and LSAT exams. Sessions are offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Classes are in-person and are open to the general public.

English Language Training Academy- an intensive, full-time program for students who wish to improve their English language skills while becoming closely oriented with American culture.
