Originally certified to represent teaching assistants and demonstrators in 1993, AGSEM was the first union to represent graduate employees in Quebec. AGSEM is now the largest labour union at McGill University, representing 3,000 teaching assistants, exam invigilators, and -since August 30, 2011- course lecturers and instructors.
