The Humane Society of Jefferson County, Inc. (HSJC), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, was incorporated on September 11, 1922.
We fulfill our mission through a wide range of programs including companion and livestock animal rescue, adoption services, emergency transport rescue, animal medical care, community spay-neuter services, our Barn Cat Rehoming Project, community outreach and educational programming, and community room rental.
Volunteers are a critical part of making our mission to save the lives of homeless, abused, and unwanted animals possible. Volunteers help support the HSJC in a wide range of ways from helping in the office to representing us in the community, caring for the animals, and even doing tasks around the shelter property. If you're interested in making the lives of animals better, we'd love to have you as a volunteer.
