Freedom Project

Freedom Project is an innovative educational organization serving folks inside prison and folks recently released back into the community. Our programs focus on Nonviolent Communication and mindfulness.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a practical tool used worldwide for over four decades to help people transform blame, anger and criticism into understanding, effective communication and peaceful resolution of conflict. The basic skills of NVC require mindfulness in their application. Mindfulness helps people become aware of their thoughts and actions before responding.

Currently, we provide regular programming at the following prisons:

* Monroe Correctional Complex (Twin Rivers Unit and Washington State Reformatory) in Monroe, WA

* Airway Heights Correctional Complex in Spokane, WA

* Clallam Bay Correctional Complex in Clallam Bay, WA

* Washington Corrections Center for Women at Purdy in Gig Harbor, WA

Freedom Project hopes to expand its programs to encompass major prisons throughout Washington State.
