MARIAN MISSION EDUCATIONAL AND FAMILY SUPPORT CENTRE

The specialism of the Marian Mission Educational and Family Support Centre is on education, childcare, behaviour, learning and family support and we are driven by the desire to provide appropriate and enriching services aimed at giving disadvantaged individuals opportunities to develop life skills, social independence and interpersonal skills. These will help them to acquire relevant skills and resources that will enable them to blend in society, achieve their full potentials and subsequently gain meaningful employment. Our focus is to: • work with our clients and not for them • promote equal opportunities for all our clients • offer challenging opportunities to our clients to enable them maximise their potentials • offer hope for a new start for our client • work in partnership with relevant agencies i.e. Schools, Social Services, Inclusive Education team, Refugee Support team, other voluntary organisations etc. The activities we offer are: 1. Supplementary School for curriculum support on Saturdays to underachieving pupils and students 2. Basic English language classes for new arrivals and early stage bilinguals referred to us by local Schools. 3. Literacy and Numeracy project for SEN pupils referred to us by local Schools. 4. After School Club for children aged 5 to 12 years. 5. Positive Behaviour Management and Self-esteem Holiday programmes for young people aged 8 to 12 years. 6. Further Education/Career Awareness and Skills Project for young people aged 14 - 19 years old. 7. Peer Mentoring training for pupils aged 10 - 15 years 8. Poetry workshop for children aged 8 to 13 years. 9. Healthy living and first Aid project for 13 - 19 years old. 10. Full time education of excluded pupils/students referred to us by schools
