Through the Walls: Guantanamo

Acerca de

While the politics of "the world's most controversial prison" are public, those most intensely impacted by its policy are hidden. Through the Walls is a photography-based project that portrays the faces, families and stories of Guantanamo Bay detainees.

Using detainee attorneys as conduits, Through the Walls circumvents officially-placed obstacles to understanding "who are the individuals at Guantanamo" and intimately illuminates the experience of indefinite detention. The project, which combines web, exhibition, print and video components, has received funding from the School of Visual Arts Alumni Association and has been featured on NPR and WNYC. It will exhibit in the documentary photography exhibition Moving Walls 13 in New York.
