    Sustainable Peace and Development Organization (SPADO) is a non-profit, non political, non-religious and non-government organization struggling to provide a peaceful environment to all human beings where they can utilize their potentials for sustainable development. It involves general public, organizations and individuals and operates without discrimination on the basis of religion, race, color, nationality and ethnicity. The organization has two main sections, which works in close coordination for sustainable development.

    1) Peace and Security: SPADO is the official contact point and member organization of International Campaign To Ban Landmines, laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize 1997. In this regard the organization is involved in various awareness, advocacy and research activities related to the universalization of the Landmine Ban Convention. At the same time SPADO is the active member of Clusters Munitions Coalition (CMC) working against Explosive Remnants of War and Mines other Than Antipersonnel Landmines (MOTAPM)SPADO is the member organization of International Action Network on Small Arms(IANSA) an International Network committed to curb the proliferation of small arms, illicit trade of small arms and to convince governments to make stringent laws to achieve these objectives SPADO is also an active member of International Peace Bureau (IPB), the world oldest and largest peace network striving towards a world without war. Being a member of IPB, SPADO is involved in various initiatives related to non-violence, tolerance, mutual co-existence and peace and disarmament

    2) Relief, Rehabilitation and Development: This component relates to socio-economic development, where balanced and objective approach is evolved to reduce poverty, which is the main cause of unrest and all other evils and emphasis is given in identifying snags and bottlenecks hindering growth in various sectors. In this regard the organization is actively involved in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction work in the earthquake affected areas of Pakistan. Moreover, SPADO is also implementing health and sanitation project in the rural areas of North West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan. Under this component the organization is addressing wide range of issues which include health, education, environment, human rights and food and shelter to achieve accelerated and sustainable development in such vital socioeconomic sector.
