MCRC is an organization of some 100+ trained volunteers from diverse backgrounds (by age, gender, race) who provide services to all Howard County Residents, community organizations, schools, police and courts. The organization promotes peaceful resolution of conflict by providing mediation and conflict resolution services, restorative practices, education and training for the Howard County community. Our work provides an alternative to costly court proceedings and has decreased suspensions and improved the environments in the schools.
Our services include 6 Standard Case Types:
MCRC, Inc. is the successor organization to the Mediation Conflict Resolution Center at Howard Community College where it has resided for over 15 years. Now, as a recent independent stand-alone incorporated Maryland non-profit organized by a group of dedicated volunteers, we have received funding for the transition that will take place starting in May, as well as funding from the Howard County Government for FY2018 starting July 1st. There is a committed Board of Directors consisting of 8 members. As of June 1st, we are located in the new Howard County Nonprofit Collaborative in Columbia, Maryland.
