Hunger Free Vermont is an effective statewide private non-profit organization that develops programs and advocates policies to prevent hunger and promote good nutrition for Vermont's families. Through public education, technical assistance and advocacy, we work to increase access to federal child nutrition programs such as school meals, summer meals and childcare meals; we work to reduce barriers that keep people from using food stamps, and we offer an innovative hands on nutrition-education and cooking series that provides low-income people with knowledge and skills to prepare nutritious meals on a tight budget. Our work has been recognized with several national awards from FRAC, USDA, the Congressional Hunger Center and the Ford Foundation's Leadership for a Changing World Award.
