ThinkGive partners with schools and youth organizations to bring research-based social and emotional learning (SEL) programs to elementary and middle school students in both schools and out-of-school time (OST) settings, supporting emotional well-being and positive youth development. Recognizing that SEL is essential to mental health but often inaccessible in under-resourced communities, we raise philanthropic support to provide programs at no cost to sites serving primarily under-resourced youth.
ThinkGive offers 11 research-based programs—two for Primary (K–2), five for Elementary (3–5), and four for Middle School (6–8)—along with modules on Social Justice, Perspectives, Allyship, and Gratitude. All programs are aligned with CASEL’s Core Competencies, providing Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) that equips youth with the skills to navigate their world: understanding and regulating emotions, managing stress, building healthy relationships, and making responsible decisions. These skills support academic success, strengthen emotional well-being, and foster resilience—especially for youth facing challenges at home or in their communities.
Each ThinkGive program follows a four-part learning cycle: THINK (group learning), GIVE (self-directed action), REFLECT (personal reflection), and SHARE (peer engagement). Every lesson concludes with a call to action, encouraging students to apply what they’ve learned. They begin with actions within their comfort zones and gradually engage in more socially brave behaviors that build empathy and a sense of belonging. For example, after a lesson on using curiosity to challenge assumptions, one student shared: “I sat with a new girl on the bus. We talked about our favorite shows—and became friends.” An educator noted, “My students realized their actions shape how they impact others—and who they become.”
Through the SEL for Every Child Fund, ThinkGive supports schools and organizations serving primarily under-resourced youth, ensuring equitable access to high-quality SEL programs. To date, ThinkGive has reached over 22,500 youth (ages 5–14), primarily in under-resourced communities. In Massachusetts alone, we served 1,700 students in 2023–2024, 2,400 in 2024–2025, and are on track to reach 3,500 in 2025–2026.
