Napa Valley Community Organizations Active in Disaster

  • Acerca de

Mission and Vision: Napa Valley COAD’S mission is to develop and enhance partnerships for communication, coordination and collaboration amongst the whole community including nonprofits and faith-based organizations, government agencies and the private sector during all phases of disaster (response, recovery, mitigation, and preparedness). COAD envisions a community where all members are equitably prepared for disaster so all have an equal opportunity to survive and recover.

COAD is a coalition of 100+ nonprofits and faith-based organizations, and private and public partners, who work together to support the community when disaster strikes. COAD supports the community before, during and after all types of emergencies/disasters. In a disaster response, COAD provides the leadership for the nongovernmental response – coordinating the delivery of those services outside the scope of government such as emergency financial assistance, food access, childcare, mental and spiritual health resources, and support for older adults and individuals with other access and functional needs. Member agencies collaborate to address the humanitarian needs in the immediate aftermath of a disaster with the goal of maximizing the community resources available by limiting the duplication of services. After the immediate disaster response, COAD moves into longer term recovery (LTR) by aiding those households who do not have the resources to fully recover on their own due to lack of insurance, financial resources, and other vulnerabilities. COAD maintains robust community resilience and preparedness outreach and programming.
