Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA)

The mission of Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA) is to cultivate the next generation of globally conscious youth of color by expanding access to transformative international and intercultural learning experiences. Through a combination of language education, virtual cultural exchange, and fully immersive study abroad programs, TOCA equips young people with the tools, confidence, and perspective needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

Language learning and international exposure remain out of reach for many students of color, particularly those from underserved communities. Limited access to language programs in public schools, lack of international networks, study abroad costs, and few opportunities for peer-to-peer global engagement continue to restrict participation. As a result, many talented NYC youth are excluded from pathways into global careers across business, diplomacy, and technology.

Founded in 2018, Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA) is a nonprofit organization committed to expanding access to high-quality global education for students of color. Through a combination of virtual exchange and study abroad programs, TOCA delivers immersive language instruction and cross-cultural learning experiences. We exist to close the global education gap by ensuring that underserved students gain the skills, exposure, and confidence necessary to thrive academically, personally, and professionally.
