Preserve and promote military and aviation history, especially related to Oscoda, Michigan
Wurtsmith Air Museum (WAM) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to sharing the story of aviation in Oscoda, Michigan which began in 1923. Our "three hangars of history" trace the evolution of aviation from a rustic landing strip along Lake Van Ettan in the early 1920's, through 70+ years of military presence (Army Air Corps, Army Air Forces and Air Force). WAM strives to welcome each visitor with enthusiasm and hospitality -- especially veterans and their families. Every artifact, exhibit and presentation is procured, designed and executed by volunteers with a passion for keeping the memories alive.
