At the core of our values are empathy, youth leadership, global citizenship, and cross-cultural understanding. We believe that young people are not only future leaders but also powerful voices today. GYP promotes inclusive participation and encourages youth to address real-world issues such as climate change, mental health, inequality, and humanitarian crises through creative and research-driven approaches.

Our flagship initiative, the GYP Youth Humanitarian Film Festival, is a global platform where young filmmakers produce and share short films highlighting urgent humanitarian issues. The festival is unique in being youth-led at every level—from film production to judging—and aims to amplify youth voices, foster empathy, and inspire social impact through storytelling.

In addition to the film festival, GYP operates several key programs:

• Youth Journalism Program: A global contest and mentorship initiative that trains young reporters in ethical journalism, multimedia storytelling, and humanitarian reporting, supported by professional and college mentors.
• Youth Humanitarian Camp: A 6–10 month guided research and education program where participants explore humanitarian topics, present at international forums such as Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks (HNPW), and publish their work.
• Mental Health Working Group: A youth-led initiative focused on raising awareness, sharing resources, and organizing workshops and pilot projects to support youth mental well-being.

GYP serves a diverse, international community of students, educators, and young leaders. Our participants come from across the United States and countries around the world, creating a vibrant network of globally minded youth committed to making a positive impact.

Through all of our programs, GYP strives to connect youth with global humanitarian efforts, foster meaningful dialogue, and empower the next generation to take informed, compassionate action in their communities and beyond.
