AMERICAN GI FORUM NATIONAL VETERANS OUTREACH PROGRAM INC

The American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) was founded in 1972 with a mission to help Vietnam Veterans find meaningful employment. Now in our 53rd year, NVOP is proud to have served over 450,000 Veterans. Our steady growth over the decades has been driven by the changing needs, challenges, and aspirations of the Veterans we support. NVOP operates offices in San Antonio, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Plano, Houston, and Austin. With a dedicated team of 230 staff members-about half of whom are Veterans-we maintain a strong network of highly trained peers across all divisions.

What began as two Veterans helping fellow Veterans secure jobs has grown into a robust network of comprehensive services. NVOP provides employment programs (job search assistance, development, and placement), housing programs (permanent housing support, transitional housing, and rapid rehousing (rent and utility assistance), and services that support these efforts.

In 2019, NVOP broadened its reach to include mental health services, offering individual, couples, and group counseling, as well as peer-led support groups for Veterans, their families, and surviving spouses. Our extensive statewide partnerships, well-established referral systems, intensive outreach, and trauma-informed, recovery-focused approach are central to our success-and have enabled our mental health services to reach clients throughout Texas through virtual platforms.
