Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society's premier event to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. But it’s more than just the name of a walk – it describes the amazing progress we’re making together to defeat this disease. Since 1993, nearly nine million walkers across the country have raised more than $528 million through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer– funding breakthrough breast cancer research and helping people stay well, get well, find cures, and fight back. In 2012 alone, nearly 1.1 million walkers across the country collected $68 million to fight breast cancer.Here in Dover, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has been taking place for 7 years. Each year more and more people come out to support the efforts of the American Cancer Society and join our cause. In 2012, 800 supporters walked the 3.5-mile route and helped to raise a total of more than $90,000.
