WF was established in 1986 as an outcome from a conference hosted by HRH the Prince of Wales in Windsor in 1984. The history of WF is rooted in a partnership between business, government and communities forged in the aftermath of the 1980s race riots. Created out of the Windsor Conference WF has at its heart and its core a highly developed sense of race equality, social justice and community cohesion. WF understands the urgency of the need to continue tackling the dangers that injustice, prejudice and racism can create. At the heart of our founders’ vision was an aspiration to change UK society for good, by helping young people to maximise their individual, social and economic talents. The founders understood that the nature of society was such that change is best achieved through working in partnership. This ethos is exemplified in the partnerships WF maintains with leading UK FTSE 100 and global employers, government departments, public bodies, schools, colleges, universities and parents.
