The mission of CCHS is to explore the culture of Chenango County - its unique traditions and noteworthy stories - through the preservation and presentation of our local heritage.

Through engaging exhibits, educational outreach, and campus events, we bring history to life and foster deep connections across our regional community.

Serving local residents, visitors, educators, and hundreds of area students each year through school field trip experiences, we strive to build an inclusive, welcoming space for learning and discovery. Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the heart of CCHS! Whether you are interested in history, education, or working with your hands, we offer diverse opportunities to get involved:

• Museum & Community Ambassadors: Welcome guests, assist with visitors, and represent CCHS at local festivals and community outreach events.
• Field Trip Experience Facilitators: Lead object-based tours and hands-on activities to inspire school-aged children.
• Curatorial & Administrative Support: Help catalog, preserve, and manage artifact collections, or support essential daily office operations.
• Construction & Maintenance Crew: Join our "Wednesday Work Crew" to help care for, build, and maintain our historic campus buildings.
