Tavie Presbyterian church women's widows group known as GVEPT in French, created and operating by only women, it is non government organization and operate under the Presbyterian Church .Its works: To alleviate poverty and hunger among women widows in Tavie; To put an end to the inhuman widowhood rituals which goes against women dignity and God's laws by searching and creating means for mutual help and income generating activities and empower self-help development in our community . Our goal is to organize and act in order to end this inhuman, devote and antichrist practises that degrade the image of women dignity especially Christians women in Tavie Reduce considerably hunger caused by poverty among the members by prayer , mutual help and creation of some income generating revenue activities in order to stop this mean of pressure on women concerning widowhood rituals. Promote self sufficiency of Presbyterian women who are mostly in precarious situations. Sensitize, encourage and mobilize Christian widows in order to join our hands and with one voice to claim our right and duty according to United Nations human right laws. Our vision is that by year 2011, Most of women widows from Tavie (240 almost) has a sure and stable income generating activities ; All members who can no more work due to illness or ages , GVEPT will take care of them by giving them food and paying their medical bills ; Every Tavie’s Presbyterian will fully understand the reason why this practise must stop; All GVEPT members will be able to pay a high part of their children education fees and hospital bills ; Stop by all means this widowhood practices ; GVEPT will extend this organization to other religion or organizations in Tavie.
