Acerca de

The Wood Turning Center displays two galleries of changing exhibits of wood art and lathe-turned objects from local, national and international artists. While the Center’s primary focus is on turned and carved wood objects, the Center encourages artists to experiment with other media using turning techniques and other processes. Increasing the variety of media, some wood artists have translated their knowledge of wood turning into other materials such as ceramic and glass.

A third gallery at the Center houses the Resource Center and a Museum Store. The Resource center houses more than 25,000 slides, books, photographs and artist histories. The Museum Store offers a wide-variety of unique gifts from handcrafted wood ornaments to jewelry, boxes, bowls, and utensils.

Reaching out beyond the walls at 5th and Vine, the Center presents traveling exhibits, such as the latest tour “Challenge VII: dysFUNctional” which will be shown in venues across the United States.

The Wood Turning Center is an art and educational institution whose mission is the growth, encouragement and enhancement of individuals creating art from wood and other materials with a primary focus on turned and carved wood objects and the appreciation of such art.
