WERU Community Radio is an independent, listener-supported and volunteer-powered media organization, whose mission is to provide diverse programming and community engagement to lift spirits, raise awareness and make connections. WERU is a "voice of many voices" that shares a wide variety of music, information, and perspectives by and for the community, over the airwaves, internet, and mobile app.
WERU Community Radio serves as a “voice of many voices" by sharing a wide variety of music, information, and perspectives, presented by over 125 volunteer program hosts, trained and supported by a small paid staff. On the air at 89.9 FM since 1988, WERU also utilizes internet streaming (http://weru.org) and a mobile app to distribute its content. We primarily serve Hancock and Waldo Counties, Greater Bangor, and parts of five other counties in Mid-coast and Downeast Maine.
