Misión
NAMI Idaho works to improve the quality of life for all those affected by mental illness through support, education, advocacy, and research.
Acerca de
EDUCATION
- Provide classes to educate families, and individuals, about mental illnesses, such as Family-to-Family and Peer-to-Peer.
- Support businesses and HR departments, by providing a presentation on stigma in the workplace, and knowing the signs of mental distress.
- Coordinate presentations to schools called Ending the Silence to address stigma and share stories of overcoming adversities.
- Partner with first responders and law enforcement, to train on the evidenced-based Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training.
- Promote dialogue with faith leaders, knowing the signs of mental distress, understanding the resources, and facilitating conversations on mental wellness in places of worship through our FaithNet program.
SUPPORT
- Provide an umbrella organization to help affiliates run support groups for families and individuals faced with a mental illness diagnosis that are outlined in the DSM-5.
- Host young & well support groups at the college level.
- Support affiliates are informed of the activities of state agencies that relate to mental health issues.
- Assists in the formation, growth, and/or development of affiliates in Idaho.
- Supports affiliates by providing training, support, and technical assistance for the delivery of NAMI signature programs and other educational, support, and recovery programs.
POLICY DEVELOPMENT & ADVOCACY
- Endorses the mission, values, and policies of NAMI National.
- Develops statewide positions on issues relating to mental illness and advocates for such positions at the state level.
- Assists in the coordination of local, state, and national mental health advocacy efforts.
- Advocates for the timely and effective delivery of services for Idaho residents affected by mental illnesses.
- Promote the understanding of mental illness as a neurobiological disease.
