Misión
Mercy Education Project (MEP) creates a learning community that serves women and girls to position them for success.
Acerca de
MEP is a 501c3 founded by the Sisters of Mercy in Southwest Detroit. While our foundation is providing 1:1 tutoring for economically disadvantaged girls, MEP continues to expand its educational programming for girls in grades 2-12 as well as adding GED preparation, adult basic education and workforce development for women.
Girls' Program - 72 served in 2024-25
- One-to-one afterschool tutoring offered three times per week in reading or math.
- Includes shared meal and activity time sponsored by community organizations and aligned supporters.
- College and Career Readiness program supports high schoolers in their journey to becoming young professionals.
- Extra circular afterschool STEM clubs for various grade levels.
Women's Program - 16 GEDs earned in 2025-26
- Comprehensive adult basic education and GED courses that support women from diverse academic backgrounds.
- Six instructors/tutors that work to help each woman meet their goals.
- Workforce development provides supplemental programming such as lunch and learns, external educational experiences from various community partners, and more.
