To prevent the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets by providing low-cost spay-neuter vouchers to low-income pet parents and feral cat caregivers.
SpayKind (formerly Humane Solution) is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 organization. We incorporated in 1999 because we saw an incredible need for a low-cost spay-neuter program for low income pet owners. We are governed by a volunteer board of directors, and have a host of dedicated volunteers that believe spay-neuter is the key to reducing pet overpopulation and the number of innocent lives that are euthanized at animal shelters.
SpayKind provides low-cost vouchers to pet owners with financial hardships, as well as feral cat caretakers. The vouchers can be used at several area veterinary hospitals (list of participating vets). We issue approximately 1,000 vouchers a year, which reduces the number of unwanted pets by the thousands annually. We reimburse the veterinary hospital a set fee above the cost that the pet owner pays for vouchers.
We also operate a part-time spay-neuter clinic inside the Forsyth County Animal Shelter where our focus is on spaying and neutering cats from the community (feral and from low-income homes) and shelter animals.
