The mission of The Ford Family Foundation is “successful citizens and vital rural communities.” It is based in Roseburg, Oregon, and works throughout rural Oregon and Siskiyou County, CA. The Foundation’s annual budget for charitable activities is about $35 million. The largest single program is a scholarship program that supports traditional and nontraditional students to attend college or university. The Foundation also provides grants and other supports to communities and organizations seeking to improve outcomes for rural residents of Oregon and Siskiyou County. The Foundation places high value on increasing community capacity to build vital rural communities and, through the Ford Institute for Community Building, provides leadership training, technical assistance, learning and networking opportunities in rural areas.
