Center for Integrative Relational Health
Misión
The Center for Integrative Relational Health advances a fundamental shift in how we understand human wellbeing — from an individual achievement to an inherently relational, culturally grounded, and community-embedded experience. Through research, practitioner development, and public education, we cultivate approaches to care, healing, and flourishing that place relationship at the center of human life.

About Us
The Center for Integrative Relational Health (IRH) exists because of a single conviction: human beings don't flourish alone. Every tradition of healing, across every culture and era, has understood this. What is relatively new is the degree to which dominant frameworks for well-being in mental health, healthcare, education, and social services have moved away from it. The Center for IRH is working to bring it back.
Founded by clinical psychologist Paul Lichtenberg, PhD, and grounded in more than four decades of clinical and community practice, the Center develops and disseminates the Integrative Relational Health (IRH) framework, a transdisciplinary approach to understanding how well-being emerges through the quality of our relationships: with ourselves, with one another, and with the broader cultural and ecological contexts we inhabit.
What We Do
The Center for IRH translates the IRH framework into accessible learning, community, and practice development across three interconnected tracks:
- For practitioners: clinicians, therapists, and helping professionals ready to deepen their relational orientation through training, supervision, and peer community
- For designers and system builders: organizational leaders, educators, and those shaping how institutions and technologies relate to the people they serve
- For institutions: workplaces, healthcare systems, and community organizations working to cultivate more relationally grounded cultures of care
Among our current programs are the Ways of Knowing audiobook and Book Club and the IRH Wisdom Network, a membership community for practitioners and thinkers working at the intersection of relationship, culture, and care. Our Etymologies of Care podcast and growing digital library support public engagement with the framework at every level of depth and commitment.
Who We Are
The Center for IRH is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Our programs are open to practitioners and curious learners across disciplines. We are building a community of people who believe that how we relate to one another is not peripheral to human thriving — it is the heart of it.
Be a part of our becoming.
