Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization seeking to alleviate the shortage of quality affordable housing in Waukesha County. For many families in Waukesha County, having a place to call home is impossible due to syrocketing rent and home prices. Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money, land, and materials, Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County builds or rehabilitates simple, decent houses. Families are selected based on their level of need, willingness to partner with Habitat, acceptance of responsibilities, and ability to repay the mortgage. Adult family members must each complete at least 250 hours of sweat equity and attend 20 hours of homeowner education classes. Qualified families purchase Habitat homes with zero-interest mortgage, enabling them to own their home.

Clean, decent, safe, and stable housing provides more than just a roof over someone's head. Homeownership encourages:

  • stability for families and children
  • a sense of dignity and pride
  • increased health, physical safety, and security
  • an increase in educational and job prospects

Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County funds its mission in part through our brand new ReStore. The ReStore sells new and gently used donations of furniture, appliances, building materials, and other large home goods.

The ReStore helps the Habitat For Humanity global vision in 4 key ways:

1. Environmental – Reducing the number of non-renewable resources consumed by minimizing landfill use and through the encouragement of reuse, recycling, and repurpose.

2. Economic - Providing alternative disposal for builders, contractors, and homeowners with usable excess building materials and unneeded cabinetry, furniture, and appliances.

3. Social – Providing affordable options for home revitalization and decoration. As well as aiding those of lower income to improve their own housing situation. And encouraging crafty do-it-yourselfers or those looking for a new project.

4. Partnering – Serving in the construction of Habitat homes by providing necessary financial resources and increasing community awareness of the financial and volunteer needs of Habitat home builds.

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
