Fox River Trolley Museum

The Fox River Trolley Museum dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the electric railroad heritage of the greater Chicago region.

The museum has a collection of electric railroad equipment built between 1887 and 1959. These historic trolley cars operate along a 2-mile demonstration railroad: an remnant of the Aurora Elgin & Fox River Electric Company. The oldest part of the railroad dates back to 1896 and extends along the Fox River from South Elgin, IL to Coleman Grove, IL. The newest part of the railroad dates back to 2002 and connects the old trolley line at Coleman Grove to the center of Kane County’s Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve.

The museum is open to the public on Sundays from late April through the end of October and Saturdays between Independence Day and Labor Day.
