Goodwill Industries of West MI- GoodTemps

GoodTemps was developed as a social enterprise, owned by Goodwill Industries of West Michigan. We strive to better the lives of persons with barriers to employment, such as single parenthood, chronic unemployment, educational difficulties, re-entering offenders, etc. We develop relationships with local companies, train our workers in job skills, and place them on mostly temporary-to-permanent employment opportunities. The Case Management Program within GoodTemps is designed to assist workers before, during, and after their job placement. Before placement, workers have the opportunity to take job retention and career advancement classes, which help ensure that they are successful once they get to work, regardless of past barriers. During the time that workers are temporary employees, GoodTemps Case Management provides assistance with referrals and supports such as transportation, food, clothing, childcare, and other resources that are essential to employment success. We also offer a $500 match for any savings workers are able to accumulate, up to $500, while taking financial literacy classes on site at Goodwill. Workers are offered ongoing follow-up services once they have transitioned to permanent employment.
